Submitting Surname Research and Member Queries
Members may submit their surname information and queries for publication by sending an email to the webmaster.
The Surname Research pages list the surnames and locations where AAHGS Metro Atlanta chapter members are conducting research. Click on the links below to view the lists of surnames and email contact information for AAHGS researchers.
The Member Queries page lists queries and other requests for assistance submitted by AAHGS Metro Atlanta chapter members.
Please follow the guidelines and examples below when submitting a query.
Guidelines:
Name the individual or specify the research problem to be solved.
Be specific but don’t overwhelm the reader.
Use capital letters for surnames.
Give a date or estimate the time period.
Include your email address for replies.
Example 1:
Looking for information about Peter JOHNSON, b.c. 1840, VA; married to Mary HEARD in 1868 at Edgefield, SC. Died 1905 somewhere in SC.
Example 2:
Information on freedmen's labor contracts in Mississippi needed. Does anyone know what happened to these records? Where are they kept? Can they be accessed by the public? All info appreciated.
